Our focus is on helping savvy entrepreneurs and clever business owners tell their story. Results include increased awareness, enhanced credibility and new relationships in the business community. Fueled by ingenuity and expertise, we utilize media, accolades, events and other prime media opportunities to elevate client brand and help them get known in the most positive, dynamic and highly enjoyable ways.
Our agency has received honors from the Kansas City Business Marketing Association's Fountain Awards program and the Kansas City Public Relation's Society's Prism Awards.
Agency leader, Becky Wilson, has been honored twice by the U.S. Small Business Administration as a regional "Women Business Champion." She is the co-founder of the Kansas City Council of Women Business Owners (KC-CWBO), designated as one of the most outstanding women business organizations in the U.S. by the Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
WDS offers pro bono and discounted services to select nonprofit and business organizations each year. We have recently assisted the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, the Center for Spirit at Work, and the KC-CWBO. We also volunteer for committee work and currently serve on the membership committee of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City.
The WDS formula for public relations success is a powerful one and we hope to keep evolving as we challenge ourselves to make a difference for our clients and our community.
This may seem a bold statement, but we are intensely proud of what we do and how our services impact our clients. Agency success is not found in the status quo at WDS. We strive for continuous improvement — to provide greater value and increasingly superior results for our clients.
WDS specializes in three distinct areas of public relations: media relations campaigns, competitive branding programs, and milestone promotional marketing. All have been proven to assist in achieving enhanced credibility, increased visibility, and greater marketplace advancement. The WDS team hones our services triad to provide more strategic public relations options than ever before.
Our clients include emerging and growth businesses in all areas of commerce. We are proud to be the agency of choice for some of the most outstanding, dynamic entrepreneurs and business owners in the Missouri/Kansas region and throughout the U.S.
WDS continues to gain recognition for client work and proud to have received top recognition for our innovative media and branding campaigns, unique business events, and enterprising video productions.
WDS agency clients have been quoted in USA Today, profiled in the Kansas City Business Journal, KC BusinessMagazine, and The Kansas City Star, interviewed on Good Morning America, and featured in The Wall Street Journal and Thinking Bigger Business Magazine just to name a few examples.
What can you expect in the media coverage mix from WDS? Five very important ingredients: expertise, professionalism, creative thinking, diligence, and results. Each media campaign is managed by a savvy PR pro, and based on determined goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets.
If you would like the business community or the buying public to take notice of your retail enterprise, or your B-to-B endeavor, look to WDS Marketing & Public Relations. We are known for our media relations success stories.
Our maxim at WDS is "People can't do business with you if they don’t know about you." How can your business get known and continue to increase awareness? An ideal option we offer at WDS is a targeted media coverage campaign.
Media visibility enhances perception; it increases interest as it educates readers. A news feature can tell the company story complete with photos, facts, and quotes. It can garner the attention decisions-makers, in print and online, creating buzz that is then emailed, posted and tweeted again and again. There are also opportunities for owner profiles, quotes in industry pieces, interviews, and other positive and eye-catching coverage.
We utilize media coverage to enhance each client's business dynamic and build their brand. Magazine or newspaper coverage advances credibility, and drives customers to a website, or through the door — all of this can be accomplished for much less than the cost of a traditional advertising campaign.
Some award applications seem daunting and are time-consuming and complicated; our agency has the expertise to assist you in competing at the highest level. When vying for awards, details matter!
Our clients have walked across the stage to accept business honors including the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce's Top 10 Small Business of the Year Award, KC Business Magazine's Top Companies Award, and the U.S. Chamber's Blue Ribbon Award. WDS's entrepreneurial clients have received kudos as an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, U.S. Small Business Administration's Small Business Person of the Year, Women Who Mean Business, and Family-Owned Business of the Year. In recent years, WDS clients have received more than 100 recognitions!
When you are ready to develop a competitive agenda for promoting your business and throw your hat into the ring, call or email WDS. We can show you how to stand out in the best possible way.
Are you finding it a constant challenge to build your business brand in a competitive marketplace? To differentiate your business in a unique and positive way? Do you seek awards and honors that offer an opportunity to stand out from the crowd?
Vying for awards creates interest and excitement. It gives the candidates and the honorees valued visibility in the business community, the buying public and the media. Applicants and winners are held in high esteem and placed in the vicinity of other like-minded business owners, leaders and decision-makers who can recommend and refer them to clients and contacts.
WDS excels in the awards arena
Kudos bolster employee pride, reminding staff that they are employed at a successful, dynamic business. Should you receive an honor, invite employees, clients, vendors and your banker to join you at the award ceremonies. You do want your banker to know that you are doing well, don't you?
WDS assists clients in selecting, seeking, and then optimizing the positive attributes of accolades, honors and awards.
At WDS, each milestone anniversary celebration that we design reflects the culture of our client's company. We can work with their marketing team to coordinate direct mail campaigns, client and employee events, special promotions and more. Print advertisements can thank clients for the years of success. Billboards also lend themselves to bringing attention to milestones. Creative, dynamic logos, tag lines and promotional items that follow the theme of the anniversary can be an excellent addition.
Whether a business wants to make a big splash or just create waves, a WDS milestone anniversary celebration can be an enjoyable and profitable experience!

Some company owners simply commemorate the founding of their business with cake and punch in their corporate lounge; more resourceful businesses are using this occasion to its best advantage. They know that bringing attention to milestones can serve as the ideal opportunity to remind clients, customers, and prospects of the long-term success achieved and reaffirm reliability and credibility.
A WDS milestone anniversary marketing plan may include a media campaign launched on a local, regional or national level.
WDS shines in promoting business milestones
The campaign can focus on the history of the business, the evolution of products or services, and profile the founders, leaders and staff. A targeted press release can also serve as a "foot in the door" to get the attention of editors and reporters. Industry publications are also friendly to features about businesses with a history of success.
HOME RENTAL SERVICES
WDS is proud to be the PR agency of record for Home Rental Services for the last 15 years. Kandy Meehan accepted the Kansas City Business Journal's "Women Who Mean Business" honor in 2005 and has truly enjoyed the many benefits of this award program. The publication has featured Home Rental Services in several stories in the last 10 years.
Home Rental Services was selected for Thinking Bigger Business Magazine's "25 Under 25 Small Business Award" and then profiled the business with a feature cover story in 2010.

"Several years ago, a friend asked me if I had 'insider contacts' as I was being quoted or interviewed for article after article and news broadcast after news broadcast. I told him I had the best PR company in Kansas City at work for me. I would highly recommend Becky Wilson and WDS Marketing."
